Each beam was hand-cut with an ax before sawmills were common, creating textures and axe marks that cannot be replicated with modern methods. Certified Reclaimed. Your mantel will feature original axe marks, knots, checking, mortise pockets, nail holes, and worm holes. No two are identical. These are the marks of a beam that was shaped by hand and served a working structure for over a century.
