• FILTER INSTALLATION STEPS FOR TAP [STEP 1- Check Tap Faucet Compatibility] Before installation, ensure that your faucet is compatible with the Hallstatt Tap Filter. This filter is designed only for faucets with removable aerators. Compatible faucet types include wall mounted bath faucets, basin mixer faucets, bib cock taps, kitchen sink faucets, pillar cocks. The filter is not suitable for pull-down faucets, waterfall faucets, non-removable aerator taps, dishwashers, pump-style faucets, or faucets without removable threading.
• [STEP 2 Remove the Existing Aerator] - To begin installation, first remove the aerator attached to your tap. Use a cloth to protect the faucet surface from scratches. Hold the tap carefully and use an adjustable wrench to rotate the aerator in an anti-clockwise direction. Once loosened, remove the aerator by hand. If the aerator is stuck due to scale buildup, soak it in warm water for a few minutes and try again. Always clean the faucet threads before proceeding with installation.
• [STEP 3 Choose the Correct Connector] After removing the aerator, inspect the faucet thread carefully to select the proper connector. If the thread is visible on the outside of the tap, it is called an outer thread (male thread), and the outer thread connector should be used. If the thread is located inside the tap opening, it is called an inner thread (female thread), and the inner thread connector should be selected. Using the correct connector ensures a secure and leak-proof fit.
• [STEP 4 Apply Teflon Tape] Take the selected connector and wrap Teflon tape around the threaded area in a clockwise direction. Wrap the tape approximately 6 to 8 rounds evenly to create a tight seal. Ensure that the tape does not enter inside the water passage, as this may affect water flow. Proper use of Teflon tape helps prevent leakage and improves the connector fitting during installation.
• [STEP 5 - Install the O-Ring Washer] Insert the appropriate washer into the connector before attaching it to the tap. For female inner thread connectors, place the normal O-ring washer flat inside the connector seat. For male outer thread connectors, insert the stepped washer properly and ensure correct alignment. The washer helps create a tight seal, prevents leakage, improves pressure distribution, and increases installation durability.
• [STEP 6 Fix and Tighten the Connector on the Tap] - Attach the prepared connector onto the faucet thread carefully. First tighten it by hand to ensure proper alignment. If required, use an adjustable wrench to tighten slightly in a clockwise direction. Do not apply excessive force or over-tighten the connector, as this may damage the tap or connector threads. If tools are unavailable, the connector can also be tightened securely by hand.
