• HOW TO REPLACE REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS: STEP 1. While working, support the lift gate with a broom handle or any comparable stable object to prevent it from falling down on you. STEP 2.Starting on one side of the lift gate, use a screwdriver to remove the clip attached to the pivot point at the top end of the strut. STEP 3. When removing this end of the strut, avoid standing directly under the lift gate; you can support it with your hand for extra stability. STEP 4. Once the top portion of the strut is removed from the vehicle, remove the clip on the bottom end of the strut with the screwdriver.
• HOW TO REPLACE REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS: STEP 5. Now its time for your replacement. First, loosen the clips on both ends of the new strut using the screwdriver. STEP 6. Secure the strut to the bottom pivot point. STEP.7 Secure the clip. STEP 8. Attach the top of the strut; adjust the door if necessary due to tension in the strut. STEP 9. Secure the clip. STEP 10. After completing the first side, proceed to replace the second strut.
